April 27 & 28 Fire Fighter 2 Training – Audubon Canyon Ranch

Audubon Canyon Ranch is offering a Basic Wildland Fire Fighter 2 training for prospective prescribed fire practitioners on April 27 & 28. This class will give you the basics to participating safely in prescribed burning, both with the Good Fire Alliance and when approved, with Cal Fire as auxiliary.

Registration is required at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/wildland-fire-fighter-2-training-tickets-54552156970

Two important things to consider before signing up:

  1. There is an online course curriculum that needs to be finished before the in-class component. It is about a 30-40 hour commitment that can be done in chunks. The links are on the registration.
  2. The Fire Fighter 2 certification requires an “arduous pack test,” which is a 3-mile walk with a 45-lbs pack in under 45 minutes, on flat ground. If you think you could do a fast walk with a full camping back pack for 45 minutes, then you can do it! The pack test is to show yourself that you can safely be on a fire line. The details are on the registration.

Register by April 1, 2019.
