This month, our meeting is Thursday, February 15th. Please join us for a special presentation from Fire Chief Steve Akre of Sonoma Valley Fire District. Chief Steve Akre will present on the vegetation management component of Proposed Measure H, which voters will have the chance to approve this March. This proposed ½ cent sales tax is expected to generate approximately $60 million annually to address the current and future funding challenges that face every fire agency in the county, and which must be used to sustain and improve fire protection and medical response service levels.
Revenue from Proposed Measure H is expected to provide an estimated $5 million annually for vegetation management, which will be used to develop, prioritize, and implement vegetation management projects countywide. Projects may include roadside vegetation management, wildland urban interface (shaded) fuel breaks, strategic (shaded) fuel breaks, community chipping days, prescribed burning, and ecological restoration. More information is provided in the attached one-page fact sheet: Proposed Measure H Veg Mgmt Fact Sheet
The meeting agenda is attached and available on our website. Find the meeting location and Zoom link in the agenda.
Remember, our new meeting time is 11am-1pm and meetings will be hybrid in-person at the Ag + Open Space District office, just like in the old days! Bring your lunch and munch while we meet!
