Sonoma County Vegetation Compliance Ordinance Panel/Webinar

July 8, 2020 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Sonoma County Vegetation Compliance Ordinance Webinar

In this presentation you will learn what the basic wildland fire safety regulations are, who enforces what regulations, how and where they are enforced, and what it all means to you.

This presentation is brought to you by Fire Safe Sonoma and is part of our ongoing effort to provide relevant information to our subscribers.

Our panelists are Fire Warden James Williams from Permit Sonoma’s Fire Prevention Division and Chief Ben Nicholls of CAL FIRE.

Chief James Williams is the Sonoma County Fire Warden. He oversees prevention staff, use-permit conditions, pyrotechnics displays permitting, curbside chipping, vegetation management and weed abatement in Sonoma County.

Chief Ben Nicholls is a Division Chief, Pre-Fire Division, in CAL FIRE’S Sonoma-Lake-Napa Unit. He has 24 years of experience in wildland firefighting with the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection – CAL FIRE. Chief Nicholls oversees and coordinates the Defensible Space and Vegetation Management Programs within the Sonoma-Lake-Napa Unit.
Our moderator is Roberta MacIntyre, President/CEO of Fire Safe Sonoma. Roberta has served over 35 years in the fire service. She started out as a volunteer firefighter, became a career firefighter for a metropolitan fire department working in fire suppression and eventually discovered how much more she could do in fire prevention. After several years working in fire prevention, Roberta eventually became an Assistant Chief/Fire Marshal for the County of Sonoma.

Now in “retirement” Roberta takes pride in bringing her well-honed fire service experience, executive management skills, and oral, and interpersonal communication skills to lead Sonoma County’s premiere fire safe council, Fire Safe Sonoma, as their President and CEO.
