Introduction to Geographical Information Systems (GIS):
Geographical Information Systems (GIS) provide a powerful tool for combining maps with database information. GIS analyzes spatial location and integrates data to help foster smarter decision-making, identify trends, monitor change, and support management strategies.
- CAL FIRE’s Forest Practice Watershed Mapper is a GIS application for viewing and querying data. It not only contains locations and summary statistics on timber harvesting, it is a good resource for viewing fisheries’ status.
